Halifax Regional Police confirm they are questioning a man in connection with the disappearance of a 40-year-old woman. They charged him Wednesday afternoon with assaulting MacKenzie, interfering with human remains and two counts of breach of probation. She was reported missing March 3. "But, there is evidence to support the charges that the investigators laid today".

"Police have received tips from the public and investigators continue to follow up on all tips", an email to Metro from police spokeswoman Const. Carol McIsaac said on Tuesday. "She hasn't been found. Even though we do believe she is deceased, we're still actively investigating that".

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Thursday morning.

MacKenzie is described as a white woman, five feet five inches tall, 141 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

She wouldn't say whether investigators tracked her movements beyond when she was last seen in February.

Police say the investigation into MacKenzie's disappearance is ongoing and are asking anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
