Complaint against JNU students

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) on Wednesday told the Delhi High court that they did not block access to the administrative block and hence did not violate court's order on holding protests in the varsity. The students were protesting the increase in hostel charges, which the JNUSU claimed was done without any consultation.

A second Academic Council meeting at the end of February in which the students and teachers were going to raise the issue was postponed indefinitely and therefore the minutes of the meeting in December have not yet been passed. "However, no FIR has been registered as of now". "Fortunately, the security guards managed to bring the DoS out of his office without further physical harm to him and took him to the JNU health center for a medical check-up", the statement read. The DoS invited student representatives into his chamber for a discussion on their demands.

"They continuously started shouted slogans, latched the door and blocked with a sofa and when the DoS tried to go out of the office for lunch, they pushed, hurled abusive language and manhandled him".

The statement added, "The JNU administration condemns this... The security unit of JNU has filed a police complaint and the Chief Proctor's office will investigate the incident".
