Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is delayed

It was originally scheduled for 3 April.

Obsidian's upcoming ARPG sequel has been pushed back a month to ensure it's polished enough for gamers.

"As you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game-significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity". While no specific reason was given for the delay, Obsidian simply says it's "taking just a few extra weeks to polish and put those finishing touches on the game".

In Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire players will embark on a unsafe voyage of discovery to become master of the seas as they command their ship across the new open world region of the Deadfire. "Our new launch date will be Tuesday, May 8th, 2018".

Our take: While disappointing, we'd rather see a month's delay to get all the virtual ducks in a row than to see the game pilloried at launch for having issues.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, an RPG I'm really looking forward to despite not being as captivated as I'd hoped by the original, has been delayed.
