Dan Gilroy, director of Nightcrawler, made headlines a while back when he announced that he'd be re-teaming with Jake Gyllenhaal for his next movie, and that the project would be produced by Netflix.

The film has repeatedly been described as a "horror-thriller", but details are very scarce.

Joining stars Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo (Nightcrawler) are British actress Zawe Ashton (Nocturnal Animals), Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things), Tony Award nominee Tom Sturridge (On the Road), Tony Award victor Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Academy Award nominee Toni Collette (Hereditary), and Academy Award nominee John Malkovich (Deepwater Horizon). Production has already begun in Los Angeles with Gilroy shooting for a 2018 release.

It's certainly a strong cast, hopefully boding well for Gilroy's follow-up to the nearly buzz-less Denzel Washington starrer Roman J. Israel, Esq. Her most recent credits include the Showtime series "Guerrilla" and "Nocturnal Animals", which also starred Gyllenhaal.

Daveed Diggs is repped by WME and Brookside Artists Management. He also appeared in the Lionsgate hit Wonder and the ABC show black-ish. She's also repped by WME and One Entertainment.

Also with WME Sturridge was nominated for his role in the Broadway play Orphans and he appears in the upcoming Journey's End (out Friday) and the drama Mary Shelley, which also premiered at TIFF previous year.

Many fans will know Natalia Dyer from her breakout role in Stranger Things, where she plays the heroic Nancy Wheeler.

Collette, who never puts in a bad performance in any of her projects stars in the Sundance Film Festival favourite Hereditary which has just been bought by A24 and is scheduled for a Summer 2018 release. He is repped by WME.

The casting was initially reported by Variety.
