Villa boss Bruce said "It will take an almighty collapse for Wolves to lose out with the standard they have set, but it is the Championship and nothing surprises me".

Speaking on Channel 5's Championship highlights show, he said: "I've got to back them (Wolves), I still think they've got enough quality to go on and win the Championship".

Rangers are also expecting to be without defender Jack Robinson at Villa Park.

"I have to look at the lads and see who is fresh, I need runners and chasers in the right areas because realistically they will have more of the ball than us", he told the club website.

But after head coach Nuno Espirito Santo shook them up with four changes from the side beaten 4-1 at Villa, Wolves responded in a fashion that saw normal service restored, goals in each half by Matt Doherty sandwiching one in between by Benik Afobe to give them a comfortable win.

But victory ensured they stayed ahead of Cardiff in the race for the title after the Bluebirds won at Brentford.

Hull City eased their relegation fears as they hit back from 3-1 down to beat Norwich City 4-3 - Abel Hernandez netting two penalties before Harry Wilson's victor.

Sol Bamba, Callum Paterson and Kenneth Zahore scored for Neil Warnock's side after Neal Maupay had opened the scoring for Brentford.

"All the boys are enjoying it, though".

Sheffield United closed the gap to the top six to two points after a 2-0 win over Burton Albion. Enda Stevens opened the scoring in the first half before David Brooks' goal after the break helped lift them to seventh. They've got some veery good players who played in the Champions League previous year. The Swansea loanee Oli McBurnie celebrated his first Scotland call-up with a neat volley just before half-time only for Josh Murphy to equalise.
