The discovery of detached head that reportedly belonged to a missing woman in Osaka, Japan. Her complaint sparked a police investigation.

The woman was last seen walking with the suspect, a 26-year-old man from NY, who was arrested last week after she was reported missing by her family.

The man was arrested on February 22 on suspicion of confining the woman from Sanda, Hyogo Prefecture, in the apartment in Osaka, which he was using as a vacation rental during a stay of about one week.

Security camera footage shows the woman boarding an Osaka-bound train alone at a nearby station. However, the woman was never seen leaving the building, the Japan Times reported. Her mother, who lives in the Hyogo prefectural city of Himeji, filed a missing person report on February 17, after her daughter's employer contacted her saying that her daughter hadn't turned up to work.

The man was arrested in Nara Prefecture on Thursday, according to the report.

The man is being held on a charge of confining the woman in Higashinari Ward in Osaka at a condominium rented out to tourists. No other body parts have been found.
