A man has died and two people have been taken to hospital after a truck smashed into a shopfront in Brisbane's north. The driver, in his 40s, died at the scene.

Part of the building is believed to have fallen on the truck when it crashed into a camping supplies store on the corner of Lutwyche Road and Northey Street at Windsor.

"We have concerns of a structural collapse", Queensland Fire and Emergency Service Inspector Richard Gorey told reporters.

Police said five people were inside the two-level shop at the time of the crash, including two male workers who were taken to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with minor injuries.

"We were very fortunate today there was nobody in that section of the shop", he said.
