Tragedy has struck Fantasia Barrino's family.

The nephew of American Idol victor Fantasia was found shot to death in Greensboro Tuesday.

"Ty Auntie is So Sorry Baby" she wrote next to a crying face and broken heart emoji. "RIP to my Oldest Nephew Please Pray for his Mother and my Brother & his Stepdad".

Police say Washington was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds while under care at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Paramedics called to the residential complex where the shooting occurred tried life saving techniques.

Washington had allegedly fought with David Lee White, Jr.

"As I write this letter with tears streaming down my face I want you to know that I showed you tough love because I knew you were something special", Barrino, whose real name is Kassim Vonricco Washington, said in the emotive post.

Above the heartrending caption, Barrino shared a touching throwback photo of Washington, her younger nephew and herself. Fantasia's older brother Xavier has been in the hospital for a few months recovering from a motorcycle accident. He was charged with first-degree murder and held at a Guilford county prison.

Fantasia's brother, Ricco Barrino, who is also a recording artist, according to PEOPLE, wrote a heartfelt letter to his late son on social media.

In a letter penned in his son's memory, Ricco also wrote about celebrating his son's birthday a year ago and letting him know he was never far from his thoughts. "I wanted you to know that from the depths of my heart your daddy loves you and he always has", wrote Ricco. You sing loud for me up there.
