A message sent at 11.46am from the French Rugby Federation's official Twitter account confirmed that some players were being questioned by police, adding: "We are waiting for further information".

Reports in France this morning claimed there had been an incident at the Tigerlily Bar on Edinburgh's George Street after the Six Nations loss to Scotland at BT Murrayfield.

According to British and French media, a plane carrying the French team home was blocked on the tarmac by police as it prepared to take off from Edinburgh on Monday and players were taken off to be questioned over a suspected fight during the night.

Police said their inquiries had established that no crimes had been committed.

Initial reports have suggested that members of the French squad became involved in a fight at the end of a night out in the Scottish capital, following their narrow 32-26 defeat against Scotland at Murrayfield hours earlier.

"The FFR confirms that some players are being interviewed by the Scottish authorities".

The French rugby teams' plane was delayed during the questioning. Nous sommes en attente de plus d'informations.

Police spoke to members of the French national rugby side as part of their inquiries into the incident, however the force has determined that no crime was committed.
