Musk could eventually get paid more - a lot more - if Tesla hits its aggressive stock and market value targets.

But the Model 3 once again struck a discordant note.

So unfortunately, unless it happens soon, aliens won't get a taste of life on Earth with their intergalactic minds blown by the shiny gift.

This time was different, right?

"It's always about growth with Tesla, not the bottom line", Reeves said.

For example, revenue jumped by 44 percent annually in the fourth quarter of last year. The company has now pushed back that milestone until the end of June.

However, according to Lori Garver, a former NASA deputy administrator, the company offered the US government a chance to fly whatever payload it wanted - free of charge - before deciding on Musk's car.

Tesla remains a money losing proposition (it has never made a full-year profit since going public in 2010).

The company reported a whopping $675.4 million net loss for the final quarter of 2017 and a $1.96 billion deficit for the year, the most ever on both counts. With all the c**p that's up there, it's far more likely that it's debris or something that's been in orbit for awhile than it was something secret.

Yet that hasn't phased investors. This matters, because if China doesn't intend to claim the Moon as their territory, they are setting a poor example in trying to seize the international waters and sovereign territories in the South China Sea, in violation of 400 years of freedom of the seas and the Law of the Sea Convention.

Deliveries of Model S and Model X were another bright spot. Astronomers have been hard at work pinning down exactly what path they will take.

The Tesla Roadster was seen as a moving object in four separate observations.

Capital expenditures will continue to rise in 2018, to expand output at the Gigafactory battery plant in Nevada and continued investment in production capacity at Tesla's Fremont, California, plant, the company said. So we expect to alleviate that constraint.

Musk responded with a winking "kiss" emoji.

Regardless of intention, the Roadster has inspired millions of people to look up.

SpaceX has now launched the most powerful spacecraft since the Apollo era - the Falcon Heavy rocket - setting the bar for future space launches.

That all fits into Tesla's goal of beating rivals by being the best manufacturer in the automotive industry. That was at the height of the Cold War, with America champing at the bit after the Soviets put the first man in space. Musk said he'll oversee those functions himself. "It was River Rogue".

According to molecular expert William Carroll, space radiation will cut the Tesla up like a knife within a year. The rocket boosters on this test flight had a controlled and breathtakingly simultaneous landing onto the launch pad. Decisions based on a small number of large devices, Musk believes the "old approach".

"Due to the success of this project, we're seeing an increase in demand for Powerpack, our commercial energy storage product", Musk told shareholders.
