Land Rover has announced the release of the very limited Defender Works V8, which is being produced to celebrate the automaker's 70th anniversary. The Defender Works V8 is the most powerful engine ever with a 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated petrol V8 powertrain produces 399 horsepower and 379 lb-ft. of torque. The V8 makes the Defender Works V8 the fastest Defender ever with a 060- miles per hour time of only 5.6 seconds. The top speed has increased to 106 miles per hour.

British SUV icon Land Rover has revealed the limited edition Defender Works V8 as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.

Tim Hannig, the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director declared that the idea of reviving a classic V8 Defender started in 2014, while building the Defender in Solihull. "We knew the demand was there for a powerful and fast Defender; the Land Rover authenticity is the ultimate finishing touch for discerning clients purchasing these collector's edition Defenders".

The Defender Works V8 gets an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with sport mode, uprated brakes and handling kit. An 18-inch diamond-turned Sawtooth allow wheel and 265/65 R18 tires (all-terrain) will be used. Both 90 and 110 wheelbase Defender Works V8 versions will be available to purchase direct with prices starting from £150,000 ($207,000) for a 90 in the UK.

Land Rover intends to continue the Defender lineage and will use its technology, pioneering engineering capability and design expertise to ensure the longevity of the Defender name.

Eight standard body colours include two satin finishes, contrasting with a Santorini Black roof, wheel arches and front grille, finished with machined aluminium door handles, fuel filler cap and Defender bonnet lettering. The dashboard, door panels, headlining and Recaro sports seats get full Windsor leather trim and Land Rover Classic's own Classic Infotainment System has also been fitted.
