He has continuously impressed me with his drive and passion for the game and recruiting."The NCAA Division I Council approved, and the Division I board of directors finalized, the hiring of a 10 assistant coach last April, making the position available as of January 9". Corley becomes the 10th assistant on Penn State's staff (a rule change the NCAA approved last year) and takes over for Charles Huff, who joined Joe Moorhead's staff at Mississippi State.

James Franklin has found his 10th assistant and running backs coach.

"He has an infectious personality and competitiveness that will impact our running back room".

Penn State hired Army wide receivers coach David Corley as its new running backs coach, it was announced Friday.

He also spent two seasons as a running backs coach at William & Mary, his alma mater.

"My family and I are very excited about the opportunity to join the Penn State family".

Now, Corley is a Nittany Lion - and he has quite a bit of talent to work with.

"David is a dynamic football coach who will be a great fit in our program", Franklin said in a statement.

Corley played in the Canadian Football League for Calgary and Hamilton, and also for the Arena Football League New York Dragons.

Corley also served as an assistant coach at CT for three seasons, where his duties included running backs coach, special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach.

With Corley on the Army coaching staff, the Black Knights won back-to-back bowl games, and captured the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy this past season for the first time since 1996. "I'm looking forward to working with this awesome staff and these outstanding student-athletes".

Corley was four-year starter at quarterback for William & Mary, where he broke the program's career records for passing yards (9,805), total offense (10,948) and touchdown passes (73). He was also the program's Director of Player Engagement.

It's unclear what Corley's recruiting territory will be and while Penn State recruits nationally by position, Corley hails from Salisbury, North Carolina and has ties to the East Coast based on his previous jobs.
