This one, perhaps, wasn't as pretty as recent Wolves victories have been.

Kristaps Porzingis scored 17 points for NY. Former Wolves forward Michael Beasley scored 13 points in 16 minutes off the bench. The Knicks shot north of 55 percent for much of the night.

In his first year back with the Knicks after a signing a four-year, $71 million contract in the offseason, Hardaway entered the night averaging 17.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 21 games. Minnesota has nine sellouts this season.

Sometimes, one really good quarter is enough.

After impressive wins against New Orleans, Cleveland and Oklahoma City to start a five-game homestand, the Timberwolves had to work against the struggling Knicks. "Now we're taking pride in our defense", Butler said.

Towns, Bjelica (10 points) and Crawford (10) were three of eight Timberwolves scoring in double figures. The winning streak isn't. He was one of eight Wolves players to score 10 or more points.

Jeff Teague was rusty once again (3-11 FG, 1-6 3P), but overall played a solid game with four steals and eight assists. Taj Gibson had 17 points.

Tim Hardaway Jr. returned for the Knicks after missing 20 games with a stress injury in his lower left leg.

Kanter (12 rebounds) and Porzingis (10) recorded double-doubles for the Knicks. But the Knicks (19-23), who lost for the ninth time in 11 games, got no closer.

The Knicks led by as many as seven midway through the quarter after Porzingis hit a three-pointer.

The Knicks were the hot-shooting team in the first half. The Clippers would've also needed to create another roster spot for the hypothetical incoming third Timberwolves player.

The lead was still eight after Wiggins' three-point play midway through the quarter. Porzingis was 3 of 5 from 3-point territory but 3 of 14 from inside the arc. And that was the margin at quarter's end.
