Highway 101 full closure in Montecito planned until Monday

In the wake of this week's strong winter storm, the 281,893-acre Thomas Fire was declared fully contained on Friday. That size is the equivalent of more than Dallas and Miami combined.

A motorists on Highway 101 watches flames from the Thomas fire leap above the roadway north of Ventura, Calif., on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017.

The fire killed at least: Virginia Pesola, 70, of Santa Paula and Cory Iverson, 32, a firefighter from San Diego.

The Los Padres National Forest is closed to the public within the Thomas Fire perimeter on the Santa Barbara and Ojai Ranger Districts. The fire became in California at almost 282,000 acres. About $177 million was spent fighting the fire as of December 24, according to Cal Fire.

Authorities determined the fire was completely contained after survey flights over the burn area Thursday. "We would also like to thank the local and surrounding communities for their understanding and support during this time".

The Thomas Fire is the largest wildfire in California's history.

At least 17 people died this week when the mud rushed into communities around Montecito. But because the Thomas Fire consumed so much brush and shrubs across the region, the circumstances were ripe for mudslides.

The Santa Barbara Airbus modified schedule consists of five, large 56-passenger coaches with daily departures from the Goleta headquarters located at 750 Technology Drive with free parking available. "That's all gone. nearly 100% gone".
