Warner Bros. already had April 5, 2019 RSVP'ed for a DC titles and today they revealed that movie will actually be David F. Sandberg's Shazam! .

Sandberg ("Lights Out") is directing from a script by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. Asher Angel will play Billy Batson while Dylan Grazer (It) will play Billy's best friend. Zachary Levi, who plays Shazam, recently said that the approach to the adaptation was like "Big meets Superman" which sounds absolutely delightful. When Billy speaks the wizard's name, he's struck by a magical thunderbolt and transformed into an adult superhero with the abilities of six legendary immortals. "I get to be a superhero that's excited about being a superhero, and I think that's refreshing", he said.

It was also announced that the untitled DC film that was set to be released on July 27, is no longer on the official schedule.

It's been an up and down year for DC at the box office. That might not even be enough for Warner Bros.to break even.
