Ozil is out of contract at the end of the season and can talk to foreign clubs this month with a view to walking away from Arsenal for free in the summer. However, like Alexis Sanchez, he has just six months left on his current Gunners deal as his future remains uncertain.

Asked if Ozil would perform better if he moved to United, a club he has been linked with in the British press, Arsenal legend Wright said on The Debate: "Yes. I do". "With the players he'd be playing with at United as well, he is unbelievable". He is just awesome, and with the right team, and the right movement in front of him, he is easily one of the best I've seen. Yeah", Wright added. "And we can't keep arguably two of the best players, arguably in the history of the club, ability-wise.

Despite his contract situation, Ozil has fared quite decently for Arsenal in the 2017/18 season. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the former Madrid man has been in sublime form for Arsenal, with four goals and five assists in his last 12 league games.

In terms of a potential replacement, Wright seems keen on the idea of Riyad Mahrez heading to the Emirates, but admitted that the departure of Ozil and Sanchez could well leave a gaping void at the club that will be nearly impossible to fill.

Since arriving at Arsenal from Madrid in the summer of 2013, for a then club-record fee of £42.4 million, Ozil has found the net on 27 occasions for the North Londoners and notched up 47 assists, on his way to winning three FA Cup trophies. Widely regarded as one of the best playmakers around the world, Ozil leaving Arsenal to join Manchester United would be a bitter blow to the Gunners' pride.
