Real have endured a disappointing 2017/18 campaign to date and now sit fourth in La Liga, 16 points adrift of arch-rivals Barcelona.

Former Real Madrid C.F. captain Fernando Hierro leapt to the defence of Zinedine Zidane, urging the club to be sensible as pressure builds on the under-fire head coach amid their struggles.

Hazard has been consistently linked to Real Madrid, with reports on Thursday even suggesting that he had agreed a move to Spain. "The pity is the goal before half-time, and also a goal at the end".

The French legend had a near flawless start to his managerial career at Real Madrid, winning eight out possible ten trophies in his first two seasons.

After a year in which the team won a club record five different trophies, a 3-0 Clasico defeat at home to Barcelona was also not taken well by fans before the winter break.

"We can't listen to what is being said", Zidane said. We are still alive in all competitions and we have to keep moving forward.

Madrid is in the knockout stages of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, but it already trails Barcelona by 16 points with a game in hand near the halfway point of the Spanish league.

Zidane chose to rest some of his big players in the clash against Numancia keeping the La Liga and Champions League campaigns in mind.

Last season's King's Cup runners-up Alaves beat third division Fomentera 2-0 to wrap up a 5-1 aggregate win thanks to second-half goals from Ermedin Demirovic and Alfonso Pedraza.

Its next league game is on Saturday against sixth-place Villarreal. "We can improve in all areas".

Reportedly asked whether he will sign a new deal with Chelsea, Hazard is said to have told the Mirror: "Yes".

"There are always hard times during the season, which is what you're trying to convey, but I don't think like that". Guillermo, who had been on the pitch only a matter of moments after he replaced the injured Higinio Marin, netted from close range to draw the away side level on the evening.
