Detroit television station WXYZ says it has placed anchor Malcom Maddox on administrative leave while it investigates allegations that it ignored sexual harassment complaints against him.

The 30-minute news conference was livestreamed by WXYZ.

"I think that they need to fire Malcom Maddox, number one". At that point, the woman claims, she was questioned and told "she should respect her boundaries". Rideout also accused the station of covering up the claims.

Rideout said the yet-unnamed alleged victims have retained attorneys.

"The station was made aware of these claims". "We want justice today for all these victims".

Rideout also made reference to retiring WXYZ anchor Stephen Clark and Detroit Free Press editorial page editor Stephen Henderson but offered no specifics.

Following Wednesday's news conference, WXYZ said the station had placed Maddox on leave, adding that it is actively investigating the allegations that were made in the news conference.
