It's not easy to see from the still shot, but Shortey is wearing a shirt with a picture of a sandwich and the Bible verse Ephesians 5:22: "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord".

Shortey: "I'm sorry guys".

Officers additionally found backpacks with condoms and lotion in them and found a Kindle Fire with a text conversation between Shortey and the juvenile that detailed Shortey promising to pay the juvenile for sex. "You're kinda freaking me out a little bit".

Officers ordered Shortey to exit the motel room.

Shortey told the officers that he was just helping the teenager as a mentor.

However, police were more concerned about the presence of a 17-year-old boy inside the room with Shortey, who is 35.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed Shortey, and the boy, inside the room.

Married Ralph Shortey, 35, can be heard arguing "can you show me that he's only 17?" after armed police swooped on his motel after a tip-off by the teen boy's anxious dad.

Shortey: "Just hanging out, talking about life". Getting high, with a young kid, is a bad idea.

"Whatever you're doing", another officer tells him later. The judge did not set a sentencing date.

A search of the teenager's tablet computer uncovered a series of sexually explicit exchanges between him and Shortey in which the married father-of-four referred to the teen as "baby boy" and offered him cash in exchange for "sexual stuff".

In March, Shortey was originally charged with engaging in child prostitution, engaging in child prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church and transporting a minor for the objective of prostitution in Cleveland County District Court.

Before his arrest, Shortey was perhaps best known for introducing a bill in 2012 that would have banned the use of aborted human fetuses in food - a measure that drew widespread ridicule and was never granted a hearing in a Senate committee.

The Oklahoma Senate sanctioned him for "disorderly behavior".

Shortey's official legislative biography says he is married to his high school sweetheart and attended Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City.
