A body found in North Carolina has been positively identified as 3-year-old Mariah Woods, who was the subject of an Amber Alert that garnered national attention.

The Onslow County District Attorney's Office confirmed Wednesday that the body officials found last week in a Pender County creek is that of Mariah Woods.

Dozens attended a vigil for the little girl on Tuesday.

A second vigil is scheduled for Sunday night at 5:30 p.m.at the intersection of Dawson Cabin Road and High Hill Road.

The FBI released this photo of Mariah Woods, who was reporting missing on November 27, 2017.

Fox 8 reported that the autopsy results will be critical in determining how the girl died and who, if anyone, should be charged with her death. Kimrey's arrest warrant said Mariah was moved from where she died, with Kimrey allegedly knowing she had not died of natural causes.
