Nick Fitzgerald has been one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC this season, but he had to leave the Egg Bowl with a horrific injury.

While there are three National Football League games on the holiday schedule, MSU and Ole Miss will be the only major-college game played today. If the Rebels take the trophy back to Oxford, they will do so with a 6-6 record, finishing the season at.500-far better than many have predicted.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mississippi State is favored at home, as the Bulldogs are getting odds of -14.5 points against the Rebels. It's not another game.

"We've just changed the program around", Mullen said. "To the people of the state of MS, this is bragging rights. It makes it fun".

Ole Miss quarterback Jordan Ta'amu and defensive lineman Breeland Speaks discussed the game, the season and more earlier this week. The Bulldogs are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a win. He had 1,770 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 picks on the season along with 968 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

"It's a rivalry game". It's huge. Like I've said before, if you're doing badly in a season, that's a win.

"As a child, people have been telling me if you go to Mississippi State you have to beat Ole Miss". There's animosity and nastiness. It's a big rivalry and big game.

"We'll finish up after the game Thursday night, hopefully with big smiles on our face and a nice centerpiece for Thanksgiving dinner at my Thanksgiving table on Friday", Mullen said. "You want them fresh so they can compete", Ole Miss coach Matt Luke said. After needling the Rebels for the first three years with his "School up North" tag, he rarely uses the term anymore. The only other nine-win seasons before Mullen came to campus were in 1940, 1980 and 1999.

We're less than 48 hours from the Egg Bowl. It's a big game for all of us and anyone from MS, but especially for him. He is just 99 yards shy of 1,000 yards - the Rebels haven't had a 1,000-yard rusher since Dexter McCluster in 2009 - and averaging 6.4 yards per carry. "I don't think I have to do that this week. It doesn't seem like it's an all-or-nothing game". The Bulldogs will be playing their third SEC game in 12 days when they host the Rebels.

In 2014, Ole Miss returned the favor.

"My cousin plays for them, Jesse Jackson". But I'm really, really proud of what this team's been able to accomplish with all they've been through. "We're going to go out there and win this one". It's a holiday about coming together, about giving thanks for what we have. "We're going to enjoy Thursday night".
