So much wasted time: The 30-year-old who had a complicated relationship with her father wrote on Twitter on Friday

Shaun wrote on Twitter about the brothers' sibling rivalry and their close relationship in David's final days.

All of the words of love and support offered by fans has helped them during such a hard time.

At the time, David took to his website to share a touching message where he thanked his fans for supporting him throughout his career, and for sending "messages of concern and care" during his struggle with the illness.

Words cant express the solace our family's received from all the love & support during this trying time.

"It's nice when your dad can be your friend", Katie echoed her father's words at the time.

"My father's last words were 'So much wasted time.' This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute.thank you".

Hear more on David's life in the spotlight in the video below. I was her biological father but I didn't raise her. It was a tremendous privilege for her to have such an understanding mentor.

"Because I didn't raise her, I didn't have to parent her", he shared with People back in 2009. "During the battle, he would regale me with hysterical stories of our father, often culminating in his taking a giant leap off my top bunk". "She has a completely different life", he explained. "[But] I'm proud of her".

He is survived by his 30-year-old daughter, Katie, and 26-year-old son, Beau. Funeral arrangements have not been revealed to the public at this time.
