Four and-a-half year-old boy booked for alleged sexual assault

The mother of a four-year-old girl has alleged their daughter was "inappropriately touched" by a classmate, police said. The incident happened on Friday and is reported from a renowned school in west Delhi. While the mother has told the cops that she suspects the role of a classmate, the police say they are yet to ascertain the identity of the culprit.

The police have registered a complaint under section 376 of Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act. "We are examining those provisions even as we are handling the matter with utmost sensitivity", Dependra Pathak, chief spokesman of the Delhi Police, was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The girl's mother said that her daughter complained of pain in her lower abdomen after she returned from school on Friday (17 November).

At first, her mother ignored her cries thinking it was "one of her tantrums", but the following night she told about the alleged assault, which shocked the mother.

According to media reports, the victim told her parents that a boy in her class unbuttoned her trousers, used a finger and a sharpened pencil to assault her. The girl tried pushing him away but to no avail, and could not ask for help as no staff member was around. The school administrations has been booked for alleged negligence, they said.

The mother said she took her daughter to Rockland Hospital in the city to be treated for pain. It was then the Police registered the case.

In the FIR, the child's mother stated that she complained to the schoolteacher through a text message that night and informed the school again on Saturday, but the authorities reportedly did not help and asked the mother to file a written complaint on Monday.

However the school's lawyer maintains that an ayah was present in every washroom of the school. Is there a possibility of a sexual need being fulfilled in his case?
