Fox News host Pirro ticketed for speeding at 119 MPH

Ex-Westchester County District Attorney and Fox News personality Jeanine Pirro was busted for driving 119 miles per hour in upstate NY, cops said Monday.

The outspoken ex-prosecutor was stopped along Route 17 in the town of Nichols at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, the state police said.

Pirro says in a statement through Fox News Channel she had been driving for hours to visit her ailing mother and didn't realize how fast she was going. A state police spokesman says he doesn't know what type of vehicle Pirro was driving or whether she had any passengers. She says she will "pay the consequences".

It is not known what kind of auto Pirro, 66, was driving.

According to the New York Daily News, Pirro's speeding might be enough to get her license suspended, and she also might have to pay for a Driver Responsibility Assessment for the next three years.

"The Driver Violation Point System gives the New York State DMV a way to identify and take action against high risk drivers", reads the passage on New York DMV website.

The registered Republican once ran against Andrew Cuomo for state District Attorney in 2006 but lost.

Pirro is host of the Fox News Channel show "Justice with Judge Jeanine".
