Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde wants Coutinho to join the Catalan club as soon as possible

Catalan claims on Coutinho to Barcelona aren't going to go away and if anything are only likely to pick up ahead of the January window.

Barcelona are said to be willing to return with an improved bid in the New Year after failing with three offers during the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing the Liverpool man.

Ivan Rakitic could be on his way out of Barcelona if the club do manage to sign Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

Mundo Deportivo once again state terms have been agreed between the Brazilian and Barcelona, and Coutinho is fully geared up for leaving Liverpool. Barcelona are going to hold a meeting with the Premier League club next month to try and push things forward, with the hope Coutinho could then move as soon as the January window opens.

Speaking in London as a Football for Peace ambassador, the Brazil legend said: "I would be very happy to see such a talented player wear the shirt I wore for so many years".

"I believe the way he plays will perfectly suit Barcelona and would be delighted to see a player of such quality wear the shirt".

On Coutinho, he further added: "I like the way Coutinho plays and the type of football he brings. Those types of qualities will hopefully help Brazil win the next World Cup".

Coutinho featured in Brazil's friendly against England yesterday and came close to finding the game's only goal in the second half, only to be denied by Joe Hart.
