Authorities say a woman was killed Thursday outside the Market Basket at Westford's Cornerstone Square after a collision left her pinned under her own vehicle.

The woman in her 50s, whose name was not released last night, was standing behind her vehicle in the supermarket's parking lot when the force of the collision sent the auto rolling backward onto her, Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan's office said in a statement. The impact caused Wang's auto to roll backwards, pinning the 64-year-old underneath it.

Emergency officials rushed to the scene, using an airbag-type device to lift the woman's SUV off her. Witnesses told WBZ that paramedics were attempting to perform CPR as she was taken away in an ambulance but the woman, who was in her 50s, died of her injuries.

"There was a woman under the vehicle and I could see her legs moving", a witness told WBZ-TV.

The driver who struck her vehicle, whose name was also not released last night, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, according to the statement.

A section of the parking lot was roped off with crime scene tape for several hours as accident reconstruction teams worked to piece together the moments leading up to the crash.

The woman's name is being withheld pending the notification of her family.
