Respawn Entertainment's next project is "super secret" and for Oculus Rift

Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the Titanfall series and, has announced a special collaboration with the VR specialist Oculus to develop a brand new shooter. While the studio is not in the position to reveal any specifics, they do have confirmed that the new game will not be related in any form with the Titanfall or Star Wars franchises which the studio reserves now for traditional gaming platforms.

In a post to Respawn Entertainment's blog about the announcement, the studio revealed that the upcoming VR game is not a Titanfall VR or Star Wars VR game.

"While the game remains secret (spoiler: it's not Titanfall or Star Wars™), our relationship with Oculus is now out in the open".

Director Peter Hirschmann called emotion "the most intense" part of making a game in VR. "While you know you're wearing a headset, your brain processes VR on an emotional level". Though you're in a simulation, you feel like you're there.

So as a developer, game assets you've seen a hundred times on a monitor suddenly become real when you put the headset on. It's the difference between using your mouse to rotate an object in an editor and walking around it in real life. Join Respawn's early-access program by clicking here!
