Amazon offering 120K temporary jobs at its warehouse for holidays

Amazon wants to hire 120,000 U.S. workers for the holidays

Amazon wants to hire 120,000 U.S. workers for the holidays Inc (AMZN) said it would hire 120,000 workers in the United States this holiday season, same as previous year, as the online behemoth prepares for the holiday shopping frenzy.

The jobs include roles for picking, packing and shipping customer orders from the company's Maryland warehouses.

With Target's recent minimum wage increase, all new seasonal hires will begin at $11 an hour.

"For the second consecutive year, Target is hosting 1,816 simultaneous, in-store hiring events nationwide to ensure stores are fully staffed to help guests during the busy holiday shopping season", a Target spokesman said in a statement.

While seasonal hires, some of the jobs could become permanent.

Amazon said it employs more than 125,000 full-time workers at more than 75 fulfillment warehouses across the USA - a number likely to be updated when the company reports third-quarter earnings in the coming weeks. The company employs more than 125,000 people full-time at its 75 fulfillment centers.

Still, it is the same number of temporary workers the online retailer brought on last year, reflecting hiring already done this year toward meeting its goal of adding 100,000 full-time and 30,000 part-time workers through mid-2018.
