Spike Lee Introduces New Nola Darling in Trailer for Netflix's 'She's Gotta Have It'

She's Gotta Have It is being touted as a "modern update" of visionary director Spike Lee's breakthrough movie, but it feels like less of an update than a story that was always suited for modern, millennial times.

Spike Lee finessed his vintage classic film She's Gotta Have It into a Netflix series. For starters, she's not anyone's property. Revisit the main character from the original movie but in TV form.

DeWanda Wise stars as Nola Darling, an unapologetic young woman living in Brooklyn trying to figure out her social and professional lives.

Netflix will debut all 10 episodes of the series this Thanksgiving, November 23.

Spike Lee fans have been waiting to see what his new Netflix series is going to look like.

The trailer features a glimpse of Spike as the original Mars Blackmon before introducing his new Nola Darling and her three lovers.

The official trailer is a promising, sexy, vibrant preview of what we can expect.

As in the original, she juggles three different men of varying personalities and backgrounds-"spontaneous" beefcake Greer (Cleo Anthony), buppie Jamie (Lyriq Bent), and immature goofball Mars Blackmon (Hamilton'sAnthony Ramos, taking over the role originated by Lee)-but it's clear that she'll struggle to balance her life and desires. It also stars Chyna Layne, Elise Hudson, Joie Lee, Sydney Morton, and Elvis Nolasco.
