Porsche will add another hybrid variant to its Australian range with the introduction of the Turbo S E-Hybrid version of its Panamera Sport Turismo wagon.

Like the regular Panamera, the range-topping Sport Turismo mates a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces 542bhp to a 134bhp electric motor.

Customers are being asked for a hefty $75,700 premium over the cost of the next most expensive Turbo Sport Turismo, matching the margin between sedan Turbo and sedan Turbo S E-Hybrid, but the new model offers significant advantages to performance and efficiency.

Charging the battery takes between 6.0 and 2.4 hours depending on the charger rate and connection type. Just like the sedan, this tremendous power is managed by an eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.

Earlier this year, Porsche debuted its most powerful Panamera ever, the Turbo S E-Hybrid, and now, you can get this powerhouse drivetrain in a wagon-esque layout. Prices begin at $189,450, but it includes a grab-bag of desirable options as standard, including carbon ceramic brakes, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Power Steering Plus, and the vaunted Sport Chrono package.

Impatient customers that don't want to wait for the five-seat Panamera sedan can simply order the Sport Turismo, which launches in the United States in the first quarter of 2018.
