NICOLA ADAMS' dreams of making her Las Vegas debut were dashed just hours before she was due to open the Canelo-Golovkin bill at the T-Mobile Arena after her opponent, Alexandra Vlajk, encountered problems with a blood test.

Adams, a double-Olympic champion has won her two fights as a pro, overcoming Virginia Noemi Carcamo and Maryan Salazar.

Adams had been due to get in the ring at 3pm in Las Vegas - or 11pm in the United Kingdom - a few hours before the middleweight title clash between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.

"I'm devastated that I'm not boxing tonight, due to a problem with my opponent, thank you everyone for your support and kind messages", Adams wrote on Twitter.

"This is something you dream about as a kid", she said.

But organisers had no choice but to call off Adams' third professional bout.

"I don't know if we've ever had women on the undercard of such a big event before, or in Vegas".
