Khamenei warns Iran will respond to 'every wrong step' taken by US regarding nuclear deal

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned what he termed "Washington's disloyalty to the 2015 nuclear deal", warning that "any wrong move" by the United States will be followed by Tehran's "tough reaction".

"The Iranian nation is standing firm and any wrong move by the domineering regime regarding the [nuclear agreement] will face the reaction of the Islamic republic", state-controlled media quoted Khamenei as saying on September 17.

Ahead of National Week of Holy Defense, a graduation ceremony that included granting ranks and epaulets, was held for Iran's Police Academy students, the Commander-in-Chief of Iran's Armed Forces-Imam Khamenei-was in attendance.

While Iran has shown a willingness to negotiate, "today the U.S. is showing cruel and bullying behavior", Khamenei said.

Washington extended some sanctions relief for Iran on Thursday under Tehran's 2015 deal with world powers but said it had yet to decide whether to maintain the agreement.

"The corrupt, lying, deceitful United States officials insolently accuse the nation of Iran... of lying, whereas the nation of Iran has acted honestly and will continue on this path until the end in an honest manner", said Khamenei.

Moreover, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said Sunday that he will explain some points about the USA misconduct pertaining to Iran's 2015 nuclear deal in his United Nations speech, official IRNA news agency reported.

"They should know that if the nuclear deal is abrogated, they will be harmed", Larijani threatened. He may have also been reacting to later news regarding an upcoming meeting between Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu on a plan to demand that Iran amend the deal to allow inspection of its centrifuges.

His remarks came after Congress voted in favor of new measures that block sales of commercial aircraft to Iran. Nevertheless, US officials stated that Washington will announce the continuation of sanctions relief for Iran in accordance with the deal.
