In another group stage matchup of the day in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League, Feyenoord takes on Manchester City at 2:45 PM EST in De Kuip.

Toure was left out of City's squad for the trip to Rotterdam and, although he refused to be draw on specifics, Guardiola told a pre-match news conference the experienced midfielder "knows the reason why".

"There were a lot of Holland players in my (Barcelona) team".

"All of them (City's players) are happy but I demand as much as possible, I always want more, not just from Yaya, but from them all".

He returned to watch the final stages of his side's victory, and City boss Guardiola said after the game he hoped Ederson "can come back soon".

This will mark the first competitive clash between Feyenoord and Manchester City.

They are now unbeaten in 12 matches stretching back to last season - their longest unbeaten run since Guardiola took charge over a year ago.

In the first part of the last season, Toure was involved in a stand-off with Guardiola, and only when he apologized to his manager, he was given a place in the City squad.

Guardiola, speaking ahead of the game at Feyenoord Stadion, insisted it was a "sporting decision" rather than anything to do with training, but left a distinct impression that not all was well.

"But the decision why he hasn't played this season and is not in the squad - he knows the reason why".

Captain Vincent Kompany will miss out for City once more due to his latest calf injury setback.

Guardiola's goalkeeper Ederson was an emblem of the spirit he hinted is missing in Toure.

The Rotterdammers go into the game full of confidence having won all four of their league games so far this campaign, but Pep Guardiola's star studded side will pose the toughest test they have faced so far. "We had six players finishing their contract last season, the only one who stayed was Yaya, because he's a special player, but the decision is that he didn't play the last games, today he was not in the squad, but he knows the reason why". The Brazilian has been training wearing protective headgear after suffering facial injuries which required eight stitches in a nasty clash with Liverpool's Sadio Mane.
