Protest at UVA Rotunda with students demanding justice and equality

There was a protest Tuesday night at the statue of Thomas Jefferson on the University of Virginia Grounds.

WVIR reports a sign on top of the covering said, "TJ is a racist and rapist". This comes after the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville.

The demands also included a call to "remove the Confederate plaques on the Rotunda" and balance the university's "historical landscape". The act mimicked the city's decision to shroud the statues of Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson after the violent events in the city on August 12.
