Victoria Azarenka of Belarus may miss out on the US Open because of the ongoing custody battle with her ex-boyfriend and the father of her eight-month-old son Leo, Laura Wasser, a lawyer of the Belarusian tennis player, told the media.

After McKeague filed custody documents in Los Angeles, where Azarenka, 28, has a residence, a judge informed the Belarus-born athlete she is unable to leave the state of California with her infant son as the custody dispute drags on. Azarenka is one of the favourites for the US Open but it looks like she might be in danger of missing out the last Grand Slam of the year.

Per Briggs, Azarenka brought her son with her to Wimbledon and McKeague watched him while she played, but Azarenka and McKeague broke up shortly after the event. TMZ is reporting that a judge told Azarenka that the child can not leave the state until the dispute is settled, and Azarenka is unwilling to leave the child with McKeague because she does not think he is capable of caring for him. She is now ranked No. 203, though she only returned to tennis in June after taking extensive time off to give birth to her son.
