Shortly before 5 p.m. today (Aug. 12), a helicopter crashed into a wooded area near a residence on Old Farm Road.

Senior law enforcement official confirms that Virginia State Police troopers were killed in the helicopter crash this afternoon.

WCAV reported the crash occurred on Old Farm Road. In a video by The Daily Caller, it was first stated that a helicopter had gone down in Charlottesville. Two people have been confirmed dead.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Duke and other rally participants turned sharply critical of Trump after the day's events turned violent accusing the president of attacking them unfairly

The crash was also tweeted about by the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters president, Robert Bragg III. No one on the ground was hurt.

Other reports are saying the chopper went down near the Birdwood Golf Course and there were two fatalities.

One person died earlier Saturday after a crowd plowed into a group of counter demonstrators in downtown Charlottesville.
