Luke Shaw and Manchester United 'love each other'

The 22-year-old last appeared in a United shirt against Swansea City in April and has been on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury.

There's a slim chance Mourinho will actually let Shaw leave after backing him to have a big career at Old Trafford, but if he sees an opportunity, he could try and quicken a deal for Rose, especially after a hard transfer window.

With United rumoured to be interested in Spurs' Danny Rose, Shaw has been linked with a switch to White Hart Lane as a potential replacement.

His agent Jonathan Barnett has told the International Business Times: "Luke Shaw is going to be one of the best left-backs in the world". In fact, he has even tipped the defender to become one of the "best left-backs in the world".

Daily Record claims Mourinho is open to a player swap to get a deal wrapped up as Daniel Levy has proven to be a very hard negotiator. The Portuguese tactician had earlier said he was hopeful that Shaw could be back in action in September.

He was criticised by Mourinho on a number of occasions last season and has one year remaining on his contract since moving from Southampton in 2014.

"It's good for them to be with us, to recover with the group and I have to say the group is really strong and really together and, for them, important to be with us than working in Manchester alone".
