Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United are in talks to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He has trained with the club during his rehabilitation, though, and Mourinho has made clear he still believes the forward can do a job for him. There have been plenty of reasons for United's league struggles; this year, however, everyone at the club will at least expect them to challenge for the title for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

"He wants more at football's highest level", said Mourinho.

They've spent big on three signings - Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof - while West Ham themselves have also strengthened.

Mourinho's plan appears to be to replicate his dominant title-winning Chelsea side of 2004-05.

Mourinho knows how to win the championship, but his players must be ready for that task. Jose Mourinho's side have done equally impressive business, bringing in Everton's Romelu Lukaku following Ibrahimovic's departure at the end of last season.

A wide man has always been of interest, but Mourinho claims he is also looking for a left-back, even though he admires Luke Shaw's attitude in coming back from another injury and the England defender will be given a chance to re-establish himself. But to have better positions in the table we need to win more.

"There are not many, there are just a couple, but I thought that".

"Watford will be in the fight as well if Troy Deeney isn't performing and Burnley will be be in the mix as Sean Dyche doesn't seem aware that there's a transfer window".

"But I am not a hard person to work with, in spite of sometimes it looks different or you want to make it look different".

"I understand the reality of the market, the numbers and my club by doing 75 per cent of what I asked, the club did well. We should be excited, the players are excited, there's a buzz around the training ground, I know the fans are excited - they should be". We are going to try to win the title'.

"Victor can play right back and can play central midfield, we've also got a central midfielder [Matic], we got a striker [Lukaku]".

"Obviously were still missing a few players but that shows the strength of the squad - although we're missing some players we still have the quality to go there and do something good".
