Broncos DL Billy Winn tears ACL done for season

The Denver Broncos placed defensive lineman Billy Winn on injured reserve Saturday after the sixth-year veteran tore the ACL in his right knee during the team's preseason opener Thursday night against the Chicago Bears.

Winn appeared to plant his right leg awkwardly and got tangled under the pile on a Bears run late in the first quarter of the Broncos' preseason win at Chicago.

Winn was carted off the field and ruled out for the remainder of the game shortly there after. Wolfe played just three plays in the Broncos' 24-17 victory at Soldier Field. An MRI on Friday confirmed the injury was worse than the Broncos initially expected.

Broncos defensive end Billy Winn is out for the season. He was set to rotate with newcomers Domata Peko and Zach Kerr, among others, on the Broncos' rebuilt D-line.

Winn was listed on the team's first depth chart as its No. 2 nose tackle behind Peko. He will become the fourth nose tackle on the roster, joining Domata Peko, undrafted rookie Tyrique Jarrett and Kyle Peko, who is now on the physically unable to perform list.
