Fire breaks out at Dhaka airport

Fire has broken out at the main building of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

A major fire broke out at Air India office room at Shahjalal Airport in Dhaka today and at least six flights of worldwide routes were delayed due to the closure of major power lines.

The airport has resumed normal flight operations.

Station Officer of Uttara Fire Brigade Shafiqur Islam said no casualties were reported.

"The three-member committee has been asked to submit its findings in the next seven working days", a civil aviation ministry spokesman said.

Some airlines offices are situated on the floor where the fire broke out.

At least 10 fire service units rushed to the spot and trying to douse the blaze. Initially, electricity supply to the airport was cut off.

Wishing anonymity, an official of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) the Dhaka Tribune the fire might have originated from electric short circuit.
