Officials have identified a 35-year-old woman and a 5-year-old child killed Friday, July 14 in a crash on USA 23 in Monroe County.

Gladys and Za-Kira Johnson of Redford Township were killed in the crash about 2:20 p.m. Friday on southbound US 23 north of Summerfield Road in Summerfield Township, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Todd Moyer, 37, was driving southbound on US-23 Friday, when his pick-up truck struck the back of another auto. Johnson was from OH, but both were Redford residents at the time of the crash. Sources say the 37-year-old was arrested at the crash scene, and charged Friday for reckless driving. Moyer was allegedly texting while driving, which led to the crash.

The force of the crash sent the Hyundai into a 2004 Toyota being driven by a 20-year-old from Findlay, Ohio.

All of the other people involved refused medical treatment.
