Olympic champions Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina of Russian Federation won their first Wimbledon women's doubles title on Saturday with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Hao-Ching Chan and Monica Niculescu.

It was the first time for both Chan and Niculescu to play in a Grand Slam women's doubles final, and Chan said she and her partner were excited and complemented each other well on the court.

It was Makarova and Vesnina's second attempt at the Wimbledon doubles title.

They also won their 10th doubles title together, the second one this year after 2017 Dubai, and it is definitely one of the most important ones.

"We were waiting for this title with Katia".

After the match, Chan told CNA that she has not taken a good rest since the Mutua Madrid Open in May and was feeling a little exhausted. We were sitting in the locker room, I told Katia, I was like, "Katia, we have to win Wimbledon". She was 35 when she won this year's Australian Open. We won it in 2013.

Williams had been trying to win her sixth Wimbledon title. We had it in our minds that we didn't finish something here.

Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, with a prize money of 31.6 million pounds ($41.3 million) will finish on Sunday.
