Sevilla announced via social media that Nolito will arrive in Andalusia on Sunday before undergoing a medical ahead of signing a three-year deal with the club.

The 30-year-old netted 12 goals and registered seven assists across 29 La Liga appearances that season, but couldn't replicate those standards at the Etihad Stadium last term despite starting in fine form by bagging a brace against Stoke City back in August.

Nolito had a promising start to life in England, but his time quickly soured, eventually only making 19 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals.

Sevilla, who finished fourth in La Liga last season, were in the market for a new frontman after selling Vitolo to Atletico Madrid for 36 million euros (£31.5m) last week.

Nolito has made no secret of his desire to return to Spanish football, and Sevilla is a good move for the player, with the transfer helping his chances of making Spain's World Cup squad.

"I hope I can leave, whether it's on loan, a transfer or whatever".

Nolito will have a medical in the coming days before signing a three-year deal, Sevilla said.

Nolito had previously issued a come-and-get-me plea to Spanish clubs when speaking to reporters in May.
