West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee says her state is bearing the brunt of New Delhi’s “deteriorating relations” with all neighbouring countries

"They can keep indulging in the politics of vindictiveness if they wish to -- we are ready to go to jail, but we will not bow down".

The West Bengal Chief Minister's party has submitted a notice which asks for all other business of the Upper House of the parliament to be suspended, pointing out that it is vulnerable geographically to the border dispute which lies at the "Chicken's Neck" - a thin wedge of land just 23 km at its widest that links mainland India to the seven northeastern states.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said all TMC lawmakers voted for the joint opposition candidate, Meira Kumar, in the presidential election to register their protest against "what is going on in the country".

She further hit out at the Narendra Modi government, saying demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST) were the "biggest scams".

It will be Bengal which will suffer from this bad foreign relationship, because Bengal has got a border with all these countries except China.

"According to intelligence reports, miscreants from Satkhira, a Bangladeshi district neighbouring Basirhat, have entered into Basirhat and created trouble there". People here believe in harmony, and we thwarted their efforts. India's relations with Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh have worsened. "Bengal is the gateway to Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan", she added.

Slamming the Modi government's "wrong" foreign policies, Banerjee said, "We are the worst sufferers, the victims of circumstance". Bengal shares its borders with these countries. "Instead, she should take steps to control the situation". What will happen to the "chicken neck" region near Siliguri? "And if we protest, we will be threatened by the CBI, ED and I-T", she said.

"I have communicated to the Ministry of External Affairs... why a BJP affiliate burnt effigy of Sheikh Hasina (Bangladesh Prime Minister) here". Why was it allowed? "Why is gun training being given in the name of Vishva Hindu Parishad's (VHP) Durga Vahini?"

Banerjee said that the Trinamool will play an aggressive role in raising voices against Darjeeling and Kashmir violence, terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims, violence in the name of cow vigilantes, and interference in federal structure in the coming parliament session.

The Chief Minister also raised questions on the silence and inaction of the central agencies asking, "Where is the RAW, IB, NSA and NIA", she said.
