A 44-year-old Uber driver from Hamden told police she stopped at a red light at the intersection, started moving when the light turned green, then collided with the moped, whose 48-year-old operator was traveling northbound on Orange, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

New Haven police are investigating a serious crash involving a moped and an Uber driver at Willow and Orange Streets Sunday.

Another 16-year-old boy suffered serious injuries to his leg and a 15-year-old boy sustained minor injuries.

All three were arrested at the scene and two large knives were recovered.

The three males riding the moped, aged 15 to 16, were taken to a south London hospital for treatment.

In a statement, the Met said the moped was not being "pursued by police vehicles on the ground" at the time of the collision but "was monitored by police helicopter".

'The Directorate of Professionals Standards has been informed.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
