The 26-year-old will now travel to Hong Kong to join the Baggies for their involvement in the Premier League Asia Trophy but West Brom still need to get global clearance to feature in the tournament. "We also preferred to allow his departure, as we didn't want to force him to stay", Ahly's Abdel-Hafiz told Egyptian sports website FilGoal.com early on Saturday.

"We're delighted to add Ahmed to the squad".

'We're pleased he's here, he's a good addition.

Egypt worldwide Ahmed Hegazi has joined West Brom on a year-long loan deal. It's really, really good for us'.

The 26-year-old, who has spent the last two seasons with Al Ahly, travelled to Hong Kong to join the club's pre-season tour after agreeing the deal, which includes an option for West Brom to make the transfer permanent.

Hegazi has flown out to Hong Kong to link up with the West Brom squad ahead of their Premier League Asia Trophy game with Premier League rivals Leicester on Wednesday, although he will need global clearance to play in the tournament.

Hegazy was named in the African Cup of Nations team of the tournament after playing every single minute for Egypt en route to the final, which they lost to Cameroon.
