Attorney General Jeff Sessions needs to reveal what he knows specifically about the meetings between President Donald Trump and former FBI Director James Comey, a Republican congressman on the foreign affairs committee said Monday.

"Former Director Comey also testified yesterday that he expected Sessions to recuse himself from the Russian Federation investigation, weeks before the Attorney General made that decision himself, because of matters that could not be discussed publicly". Jeff Sessions will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, and his testimony could be the most explosive so far.

The Secret Service has handled recording systems within the White House for previous presidents. "I have not had a discussion with him about that", Spicer said.

On Monday, White House spokesman Sean Spicer, asked again if there were recordings, would not confirm it. Third, it says he was involved in the firing of Comey.

UPDATE: Sessions has agreed to appear in an open hearing.

Comey said Trump told Sessions and other administration officials to leave the room before Trump asked him in February to drop a probe into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation. Now, however, after the Comey memos and the Comey firing, it seems safe to predict that special counsel Robert Mueller will investigate Trump for obstruction.

Former GOP House Speaker GOP Newt Gingrich called on Republicans to "abolish" the Special Counsel investigation into any Trump campaign ties to Russian Federation.

-Feinstein acknowledged she "would have a queasy feeling, too" if Comey's testimony was true that Loretta Lynch, as President Barack Obama's attorney general, had directed him to describe the FBI probe into Hillary Clinton's email practices as merely a "matter" and to avoid calling it an investigation.

Sessions is likely to be questioned over the truthfulness of his answers in January. "I was honestly concerned that he might lie about the nature of our meeting, and so I thought it really important to document", the ex-FBI director testified.

Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said Sessions requested that the committee hearing be public.

Comey did take issue with the February New York Times report during his testimony last week.

"I urge that the Committee hold a hearing with the Attorney General in the open so that the American people can hear for themselves what he has to say with regard to connections to the Russians and the President's abuse of power", wrote Sen.

"I have a recollection of him just kind of looking at me", Comey testified.

The president denied trying to interfere with the investigation and said he would be willing to testify under oath about his interactions with Comey.

"It is very clear that Comey hates Trump", Gingrich added in an interview Sunday with John Catsimatidis on AM 970 in NY.
