Rahman, Shruti Haasan thrilled about Cannes debut

Mumbai: Music maestro A.R Rahman and Shruti Haasan are in a jovial mood as their film "Sanghamitra" is all set to receive a grand unveiling at the opening night of the 70th Cannes Film Festival on May 18. The films first look features Shruti Haasan in a lead role portraying the character of a strong yet stunning warrior princess.

Along with Shruti Haasan, Sangamithra also has "Jayam" Ravi and Arya in pivotal roles.

The Hindi, Tamil, Telugu trilingual magnum opus "Sanghamitra" is touted to be one of India's costliest and most ambitious projects.

Talking about being in Cannes for the first time, Shruti told IANS on the phone: "The atmosphere is lovely and there's so much of excitement around that you get sucked in".

Shruti, who was at Cannes for the screening of her movie, Sangamithra, teamed up the sombre outfit with a pair of studded, silver Christian Louboutin pumps, which was probably the most peppy element of the melancholic look. "I'm a nomad and I find happiness irrespective of the place I'm in", she said.

Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) has also boarded the project as composer.

The first look poster of "Sanghamitra" was launched here on Thursday at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. She was also joined by music director and Academy Award victor, A R Rahman at the Cannes 2017 red carpet as the entire team presented their trilingual magnum opus to the world!
