Today, the Nissan LEAF is the world's best-selling electric vehicle with more than 260,000 on the road globally.

It is known that the next-gen Nissan LEAF will make its official debut in September 2017 and the Japanese manufacturer has recently released the first teaser image of its upcoming auto.

Also, being worked on are programmes called Vehicle-To-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-To-Grid (V2G) which basically work out ways the Nissan LEAF's power source (the battery-run electric motor) can be used when the car's is not being driven.

It is speculated that the upcoming LEAF is inspired from the Nissan IDS Concept and will be powered by a 60kWh battery pack, which will have a longer range. Nissan plans to release more of such teaser images running up to the unveil, which will take place in September this year possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new Leaf is getting a complete makeover, with a new architecture - reportedly shared with the next generation Renault Zoe as well - and a seemingly different, sportier design apparently taking cues from the new Micra, probably featuring the new corporate styling. Also expect to see Nissan's V-Motion grille on the EV and floating roof.

In addition, the next generation Nissan Leaf will get a roomier cabin and will be incorporating a host of new creature comforts. Nissan LEAF has been promoted as a competitive EV in various markets and with the updated model it will surely gain much more appreciation.

Aside from the design, the range is expected to be the biggest upgrade on the new model.
