Champions find a way to win and we failed, says Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspurs saw their Premier League title challenge in tatters after losing 1-0 to West Ham Friday night to put Chelsea within touching distance of being crowned champions.

Chelsea need just two more wins to secure the title, and can get one when they face Middlesbrough this evening.

"It was a hard game, it's true that if you compare it with five days ago against Arsenal it was not the same performance that we played last week". I don't know. For me we have to try to move on and finish in the best way the season and still fight.

Tottenham's midfielder Eric Dier admitted his team's title aspirations are now highly unrealistic.

Dier added: "We brought it [the deficit to Chelsea] back to four points but after today it's almost impossible now". After [this defeat] it's almost impossible.

"It's disappointing really because we were on a fantastic run and we didn't think it was going to stop".

In a quirk of the fixtures, Sunderland are set to play a big part in determining who goes down with them to the Championship.

At this stage of the season, it's the same for every team.

"The performance was not the best".

"I don't change my vision of my players".

"I'm so proud of the boys". We played well and these points were very important for us.

"Our strength is in our collective, our squad", he said.

Here, we pick out five things we learned this weekend. It's to be strong like a unit.

"With all the obstacles we have had this season the guys deserve a lot of credit", said manager Slaven Bilic, who has had to cope with continual speculation about his future.

However, despite the gap closing temporarily to one-point, the Blues remained in form and atop the table.

"We deserved to win, we did everything", he said. But we were magnificent tonight. It was a great team display in terms of character, determination, thinking about what each individual had to do. It's not about playing well or running around more or less, it's about when you must win, you win.

"We need to ask ourselves the right questions and try to understand what happened today". "Friday night, lights, 60,000 against them, you can't beat that feeling".
